Different Industrial Benefits of Using Laser Engraving

Laser is a kind of powerful invisible light which has the capability to cut through metal, rocks, hard plastic etc. It’s the amount of heat generated that allows it to cut through most of the surfaces. This kind of micromachining has found its application in various different industries for this main reason.

The others reasons to use laser engraving are precision and it can work even in very small areas. Different techniques are used for various different kinds of surfaces. For example, to engrave on glasses, thermal modes are used whereas in case of plastics, it can be melted to give a new shape to it altogether.

Advantages:
§      Precision: The process of micro-identification is used in various different products to engrave logos, designs, outlines and such various ID codes which maintain certain standards. This kind of micromachining without causing any damage to the products at all is only possible via the use of laser engraving . The marking can be done on any surface of your choice and also stay permanently on them, even on a surface which is composed of polymer blends. Also, customization is so easy that that one can draw any shape needed.

§      Accuracy: As already mentioned, there’re various different types of ID codes, logos etc. that are etched on these products and they vary in their character sizes, fonts etc. Everything is possible with the use of this kind of micromachining. Whatever be the type of the surface, may be round, curved, flat, undulating, this kind of micromachining can work on all of them. Even if you’re worried for the tiniest working areas, the laser machines will provide you 100% accuracy.

Marking v/s Engraving:
When it comes to micromachining, both laser engraving and laser marking falls under it. But one needs to understand the thin demarcation line between these two processes. In engraving, the part of the product where the etching is done is completely removed.

But in case of marking, this doesn’t happen at all. Actually, a new kind of material is applied on the product where the marking will be done. The best part is both these two processes are simply flawless and easy to use. But engraving holds the upper hand of the two techniques as it lasts longer of the two and also is more easily customizable.

Safety Measures:
As a huge amount of energy is generated in this entire process, accidents are quite common. Thus the workers need to be highly careful while working with these devices. During the entire course of action PPE or Proper safety and Protection Equipment should be worn.

If by mistake, your body parts come in contact with the laser beam during laser engraving, your body may damage severely or you may have your limbs cut off.
